PLEASE READ BEFORE WE MEET

Home Visits – my home visit fee includes a travel fee which covers homes within a 20km radius from Etobicoke Civic Center. Shortly after booking your appointment, you will receive an email with your Intake Forms. Please fill them out and e-mail them back at least 12-24 hours before you appointment time.

On the day of our meeting, please have all house pets in a different room for the duration of our appointment. During the first 10-15 minutes we will be going over your intake form and health history, followed by an assessment of the mother-baby dyad, weighing the infant, feeding assessment (ideally the baby would be due for a feed), oral assessment of the baby, breast exam, latch assessment, flange fitting if needed, management of any issues present, and development of the care plan.

Some dyads will require more than one consultation and if that is the case, a follow-up may be recommended. You will receive your personalized care plan and the summary of what we discussed within 24 hours following the appointment.

If you would like me to share my report and the care plan with your baby’s pediatrician or any other health care provider please let me know prior or during our appointment.

Virtual Appointments – Shortly after you book your virtual appointment, you will receive an email with the link. You will also receive a separate email with your Intake Forms. Please fill them out and email them back at least 12 hours before our appointment time.

If you are having a prenatal consultation, or consultation related to starting solids, or back to work pumping plan, please make yourself comfortable, have pen and paper nearby, as well as your pump and baby bottles (if applicable).

If you are having a breastfeeding consultation, please have anything that you might need during the feed nearby. A support person is welcome for additional help (moving the camera around, helping you with positioning etc).

If you are running late for your virtual appointment, kindly let me know ahead of time. If I am unaware that you will be late, I generally wait 20 minutes and then log out. If you join within the 20 minutes we can certainly use the remaining time, however you might need to schedule a separate appointment if I was not able to answer all of your questions during the remaining time.

During the first 5-10minutes of a breastfeeding consultation, we will be going over your Intake Form and health history, followed by a feeding assessment (ideally the baby would be due for a feed) latch assessment (if possible virtually), management of any issues present and development of the care plan.

Follow-Up Visits  for existing clients (within and up to 4 weeks after the initial consultation) – follow-up visits usually don’t take as long as the initial consultations. Virtual follow-up appointments take 45 minutes. In-home follow-ups take 1 hour. During the follow-up we will discuss the existing care plan, manage any new challenges that have developed and modify the existing care plan in order to help you reach your new breastfeeding goals or continue working on your current ones.

If more than 4 weeks have passed since our initial consultation, or if the challenge at hand requires additional full assessment of the mom and/or baby, please kindly go to our Services section, and schedule a full consultation. This will allow enough time to do a detailed assessment of the dyad and address any new concerns.

E-mail support  – you can email me with your questions/concerns related to your care plan or with updates at anytime. I will respond to your inquiry within 24 hours or less. I am committed to providing comprehensive support to new mothers throughout their breastfeeding journey. That's why I offer email support to my clients for 1 week after their initial home visit or virtual consultation, and for 1 week after all follow-up appointments. If you need more time, additional weeks of email support can be booked here.

If your question or concern is urgent please TEXT me at 647 239 6262 with the word “URGENT” and then describe your situation. If I do not respond within 30 minutes, I may be with another client, or not near my phone. In that case, expect a response the same day during my working hours. If this is an emergency, please seek urgent care, call your pediatrician, call Telehealth at 1 866 797 0000, go to your nearest emergency department or call 911.  Milk Flow Lactation Clinic does not deal with any emergency situations.

Cancelations/Refunds/No-shows

We require a 24 hour notice for all the changes and cancelations. If the appointment is canceled in less then 24 hours a $75 cancelation fee applies. This cancelation fee will be subtracted from the amount you paid initially and the remaining amount will be refunded to you within 24 hours.

If the client does not show up for an in-person or virtual appointment, the fee for that appointment is non refundable. If I am unaware that you are late for your appointment, I typically wait 15 minutes and then log out or leave if this is a home visit. In this case it is considered a no-show. If you notify me that you are running late before or right at your appointment time, I will wait and we can use the remaining time.

If you need to change or cancel your appointment please do so before your 24h window, so that we can give your time slot to the next client on the waiting list.
